  4. Speddling...

I have seen a few pics of your bass strewn throughout Talkbass, and I must admit that halfway between regular pickups and woodcovered, those are the sexiest pickups I have seen.

  5. But, here's the covers......F Bass Studio 5-string, F Bass pickups.:D

I've got some oddballs hiding under SD soapbar covers.

They're Joe Barden 5 string prototypes for Sadowsky. Split coil, bar magnets, never in production. Shown here in jazz covers.

Got them in a Ken Lawrence 5 that started with SD active bass lines. Found those to be brittle and sterile so I swapped in some Aero single coils. Big improvement but didn't like the EQ on the preamp and the tone was still wanky. Swapped in a Bart NTBT preamp and then I had the worlds best hot rodded jazz bass tone.

But I couldn't stand the single coil hum so I searched out a humbucker and found the Bardens. They don't have the jazz bass vibe like the Aeros but they sound much better to me than the SD's and they don't hum. I think I'm done :)
