having this mod done to my lightwave zon next week.

as i've said in other threads, the main electronics are roland ready.

    the daughterboard is not.

so, for the interim, they'll be hardwiring the control pod to the main board. bypassing the GK2B pickup altogether.

eventually, the proposed daughtercard will do away with the control pod.

    whoo hoo!!!!!!

    pics when completed!!!

I've got a Curbow being built with lightwave pickups, and the plan was to have it retro'd to work with a VBass in the future. It'll probably be another 8 months before I get the bass, but I'm very interested in hearing how the mod goes.

  3. fhodshon -- Cool news about the Lightwave/V-bass combination. I've been d*mn curious about the V-bass myself.

bassmonkeee -- What, you don't think the Curbow is going to be over-the-top enough as it is? ;)

by then, the mod should be pretty simple to perform.

probably easy enough for the end user to execute.

    exciting times!

Heh. It's the last one. It's got to be over-the-top. Expect a PM in the next couple of days. Been swamped, and got a gig tonight.

  6. "It's the last one"...yeah, I said that about 10 basses ago. ;) Will eagerly await your PM, and good luck on the gig!

My contact at Sweetwater Sound says that Brian Moore plans to build a bass with the V-Bass pickup on-board.

not difficult to do, using the kit Roland supplies. still a GK2B pickup most likely.

the advantage with the Lightwave arrangement, that the infrared pickups yield a better response time than the GK2B. no mags once again!

    :D

I agree, the response time is critical.

I think this may be the Lightwave Zon that he had for sale in the classifieds recently.
