I've had a Lightwave fretless for about the last four years. I like it. The overall quality is excellent, it has a rechargeable battery in it, and it plays great. The tone controls work over a wide range of settings, so I've had no problem getting the sounds I like. It's a smooth sounding bass, it doesn't have the tone of a Jass, for instance, or much growl. All that depends on one's amp, too, though.

I picked mine up on ebay used for about $400. It's the only bass I play. I play in a classic rock band. I find no fault in it, and although it has sophisticated electronics in it, I've had no problems. I'd recommend it as a good instrument overall.

I liked mine very much. I did end up selling it, regretfully. It sounds and plays great. One thing you should know though, is that it picks up every nuance of your playing. Clean up your chops or it will all be out there for an audience to hear. There are definitely other threads about this on TB.
