The guy is a badass; listen to his work with Dave Weckl. Amazing!
Yes, and he can play unison lines with Mike Stern, too.
Ah, someone knows their bassists!! Lincoln Goines is one of the best latin style bassists in the world! Check out the first Carribean Jazz Project cd.
I don't recall him doing anything with Dave Weckl though I could be wrong!
I'm sure they played together for different artist...
Lincoln rips. I've seen him a couple times with Mike Stern. Good stuff.
Lincoln Goines has been a badass for a long time! Check out his work with Wayne Krantz...'2 Drink Minimum & Long To Be Loose'
yes he is...
but his site is at www.lincolngoines.com
Great Bassist,I got to see him with Dave Valantin a few years back.Always stays in the pocket.
Primitive Passions(1996) with Dave Valentin and Robbie Ameen is one of my favorite CD's.
I saw Lincoln Goines and Dave Weckl live with Mike Stern @ Leverkusen Jazztage 98 - great gig.
Too bad they were followed by Allan Holdsworth and Dave Carpenter (forgot drummer's name) who kicked their asses - bad!
I caught Lincoln Goines with Mike Stern and Dennis Chambers a few years back at the Bottom Line in NYC. Great show and great player.
LG played with great tone, time, and groove. He made it look so easy.
That's whay he is endorsed by Fodera and I'm not.
yeah i played "yo me songo" last year for my exam, nice grooves indeed
I've been on a big Mike Stern kick... need to pay some respects to Lincoln. Right now I'm thinking I need to give up playing!!!
it ain't right that a man both play and sound THAT good
JMX: I'm listening to Piazza Stazione, Tesserete - Lugano Estival Jazz Switzerland. 4 july 1998 right now. Mike & Lincoln with Richie Morales on drums and Bob Malach on Saxophone.
I'm still picking my jaw off the floor from Lincoln's solo in "One Liners"
which one is their fist CD?
i have (what i thought was their first) the self-titled one from 1996 and it's got Oscar Stagnaro on bass. and another one i have says Ruben Rodriguez.
i'd love to hear the one with LG on it!
how did they kick their asses?
was it a competition?
just wondering what your criteria is for Ass Kicking.
Holdsworth > Stern - at least IMO. hehe
Was Kirk Covington playing drums that show?
I was there!!! (I grew up right there...in south Switzerland).
If I may ask, what is this, a live CD or video, or...
Thank you, 'nice Sunday
That was going to be my question as well.
James, being in NJ have you had a chance to go check out Mike Stern at the 55 Bar in NYC? Saw Mike Stern with Mike Pope one night. Amazing. They took a 12 bar blues and turned it and stretched in every direction.
