has anyone tried the lindy fralin jazz pickups? i'm thinking of getting then for my MIJ '75 reissue jazz bass.
I have a set on order for my MIA '75 Jazz reissue. They'll be paired with a JRetro preamp. I'll post a review after the pickups arrive.
I had a set on a Jazz that I used to record my band's EP (link below) and I was completely happy with them. They sounded nice and round and phat. You could push them a little harder for some growl that never got harsh. Sigh...I miss my Fralins.
cool! they seem to get rave reviews everywhere i look, just wondering if they were really *all that*. looking forward to that review bassmonkeee!
bassmonkeee have you received your fralins yet? a store by my house keeps them in stock so i went out and bought a pair the other day. i haven't had time to really play cranked up, but even at low volumes the pickups sound great. i especially like the low end, very thick but the notes are very defined. will probably play with some people this weekend, i'll let you know how they are. steve
Got the Fralins in my Lakland. I like them, seem to work really well under the band. Clear and punchy. Blues and funk stuff mostly. Check out the Lakland sight for details.
About P pups... A bassist in a promising local band....oh wait, that's from the Onion... A local guy that has a stable of MIM P basses uses Fralins exclusively. He gets the fattest P tone that I've ever heard....even through a little Yorkville combo amp. Awesome tone!!!
