I currently own one of these pedals. I would like to hear from users about their experience with this pedal. Pros or Cons.
I use mine randomly. I use it as a graphic eq, a volume cut/boost, delay, reverb, a phaser for one song and a fuzz for another song. I midi control mine so it makes it really to dial in spot stuff here and there. Does it blow me away with sound quality? No. I only use it for live stuff and record with other pedals.
The buffer/AD/DA conversion blows. The overdrives blow. The delays are awesome except for the wet/dry balance, which blows. You can't use standard trs-connected expression pedals, which blows. The compressors are pretty good, until you realize you can't just keep one of them on full time and use any of the other effects....that doesn't blow, per se, but it does suck... Other than that it's awesome...
I am trying to just use the effects. I have a source audio MWBD, BEF Pro and the Dimension Reverb. How and what do you use for midi control.
I hated the filters. The octave was great and I really liked the bias trem set with touch sensitivity on the speed. Some of the fuzzes were pretty good. I didn't keep it. I'm a lot happier with the Zoom B3, for the same price you get 3 effects and they're all superior IMO. The only thing I miss is the touch sensitive speed.
the cons are that it's one effect at a time, I got it cheap and I use it for reverb only, so I'm happy with it.
Not trolling, I've owned all the M-series pedals and now I own a Zoom B3 and an MS-60b, and I love them! Filters are WAY better, Dirt is better, Compressors are better, tuner is better, EQ's are better. M's get Octaver, but not by much. Get an MS and get amp/Pre amp sims and the ability to run 4 FX at once. My .02¢! J!
The pitch shifter is unlike anything else I've ever heard. I set it for down a half step and down a full step. I don't need to change bases or tuning that way. The modulation is really good, dirt it ok, delay is good, verb is good, tuner is good
Oh sorry for the confusion. My M5 sits in my rack and is plugged via midi into our audio interface which is controlled by our Ableton computer that runs our set. So midi just changes switching presets for me basically. You can do some cool stuff with the midi controls though once you get in there. Most of the parameters can be assigned to CC values of 0-127 so you can do manual sweeps and stuff.
I have a Line6 M9 and a Zoom MS-60b, and agree with Johno here. HOWEVER, the midi control and ability to add an expression pedal to any parameter are why I keep my M9. Chris Hargreaves' dubstep stuff proves the M-series worth, IMO. And concerning midi control of an M-series pedal I would be very happy if you (Johnbegone) could tell me more or PM me with any information that may be useful. I am trying to midi control my M9 and Source audio pedals so any info would be greatly appreciated.
There are enough bass-friendly sounds in there to cover my needs, I really like wot I can get out of it. But I'm not seeing it as the most intuitive pedal I've seen... Question: I'd like to change the order of the presets, say bring preset #2 (chorus) to #1 and #9 (analog delay) to #2, but for the life of me, can't get it done... anybody have a clue ?
Thx. If I read the manual correctly, the only way to jump directly to a preset is by using a midi device ?
I like mine, got my money's worth out of it for all the patches that are good, whatever's not used (dirt for example) doesn't matter — I still figure I came out ahead. Used it a few times live (not needed, but used it anyway), including tuner. Mostly use it at home. The drawbacks are that it can short out (search TB for a thread on how to fix the ground to chassis issue), the switches benefit from being replaced with proper stompers such as Carlings and there's a few other fun little mods for it floating around out there.
