Duff's tone is legendary, Rocket Queen is one of the songs that showcased GNR's rhythm section and just plain ability to groove with grit, and in my opinion back then, the only band that really took the baton from Aerosmith. Sure bands before them pulled Aerosmith's style, some went pretty close to cloning them as best as they could. GNR did it best, they did it with genuineness, but with added danger and dirt. Duff's tone, his musical instincts, attitude lead to such powerful songwriting that is still standing on its own over 36 years since those songs were recorded.
What is Dad rock, judging by the roto-toms and the Garage Days poster in the background of that 1st photo, we must be around the same age. What songs are you playing? Get some Velvet Revolver in your set!
