Hello, A little dumb question Can I install any coil in any cavity or each coil is specific to it's own group of strings? As you might have guessed, my knowledge of electronics and wiring are zero, so I'm using a prewired Kit with solderless terminals. I received the pickup last Friday and came with no schematics or instructions of any kind so I used the search function here and on the web and have not found an answer. I'm assuming so that they can be installed in any order and any direction, but I want to make sure to avoid having to check it out for myself and prevent any damage. I already sent an email to Lollar but being weekend I have received no answer, and hoped to finish the installation today. Thank you for your wisdom in advance.
I don't think it matters which is which, but orientation certainly does matter. I'd wait on Lollar's response.
actually, with respect I think you have it wrong there. For a p bass pickup, orientation shouldn't matter, and which is which may matter, but probably not. Especially if a: it's a vintage style/voiced pickup, and b: there's no makings on the bobbin saying "e/a" and "d/g". but really, just install it, adjust it and have a listen. you can't harm anything by doing this. if you aren't happy, swap them.
Thanks for the imputs!! I've been answered by Lollar CS. For everyone that matters here is what they said (read botton to top): "<[email protected]> wrote: Hi, That is all that matters, you want the bottom side of the pickup with the writing on it facing downwards, everything else is basically universal. The only thing I know is the face with the protuding magnets goes upwards. Many thanks Info <[email protected]> wrote: Hi, Either coil can go in either cavity, they are wound identically.
