    Hello, mustang users!
I am plannin to restring my mustang bass and i do have a question:
Can i string my mustang bass with regular (long scale) flatwound strings? (for example: Fender 9050L).
    Thank you.

The string would likely unwind at the tuners if you did that. At least, that's what it did when I tried it years ago. If the silk winding isn't long enough, the bend will be too much for the bare metal that would wrap around the tuner post.
  3. I put some older long scale daddario 1/2 rounds on a squier musicmaster (same scale as mustang) that I bought for my son. No problems and they don't appear to be unwinding.
  4. Medium scale is best.
