  1. Hi, I'm looking for some help pleeze. I've started playing bass again after about 13 years of not picking a guitar up. Some friends and myself are jamming the blues and I'm loving playing again and some of what I've forgot is creeping back in. I've treated myself to a 5 string which I find very comfertable to play but I would like some tips on good playing exercises and speeding up fretboard runs.Any advice will be gratefully recieved and help
to my mates who are all great musicians. Thanx

It is difficult to give specific musical passages in this forum, but I would recommend you check out Gary Willis' fretboard Harmony for Bass. It gives a totally new pespective on the fretboard. That being said, work out diatonic arpeggios for both triad and 7th chords in a few keys. DO it in one position and utilze every avaiolable note in that position. This will help with string crossing as well as opening up the board to you.
