does anyone have a bass made of 2pieces for the body

i mean straight down the middle
cause i wanna build a tele body :help:

but i want to make it outta 2 pieces rather then 3 or 1
im just wonderin is this kinda dodgey because of splitting down the middle or should i be ok?

Also would ash bodied and maple neck be a good choice?

    Thanks

There are very few solid body guitars or basses made with one piece bodies. 2 piece bodies are extremely common.

If you plane the sides well and do a really good join, no problems whatsoever. The glue is actually stronger than the wood.

Lightweight "swamp" ash is a good choice, so is alder.
