I was wondering if there were any upright TB'ers in the Athens, GA area who might be able to give me a few lessons. I am a professional bassist but I recently received a custom EUB (photos attached) and I am looking to take a few lessons for the sake of basic technique. Please let me know if you could help me out.
When I was living in GA pretty much everybody that didn't live in Atlanta was taking lessons with the cat over at UGA. Who was principal bass with buncha different local symphonies. even though the popsicle bears only a slight resemblance to an actual bass, you may want to rethink the "few lessons" approach. Developing a good, tension free physical approach to the instrument takes more than a couple of lessons.
I appreciate that input. I don't expect to become a virtuoso by any means and the electric bass is still my focus I am just looking for some pointers to get me started in the right direction with my "popcicle".
You might try contacting Ramon Pooser . He is an occasional poster here and is an exceptional player in Atlanta. He could be exactly what you are searching for.
Thanks again, Atlanta is a bit far. Well, not really but my car is in horrible shape. I will look into it. One of the bands I play with is bassed out of Atlanta so maybe I could work something out. Again, I appreciate it.
