I'm moving to a new home soon and have some extensive house-cleaning to do. I've found a couple of small items in my music cabinet that are new and unused, which I don't need. However, a new player on a limited budget could put them to use. Anybody know of a new player who hasn't been able to afford even small things like a nice strap, or an amp?

I have a new Planet Waves strap, with the locking ends and also a Nobels Bass Mycro headphone amp with headphones included. I'll send these, free of charge, to a bassist who needs them.

We have to be on the honor system here, guys. If you have a strap or an amp of any kind, please disqualify yourself and help me find somebody who really needs these small items.

Wouln't this be a nice tradition to start? I'm gonna take a look around to see what I have that I don't use, too.

    mchildree,

You, sir, are a true gentleman. That's pretty nice of you. I will look through my closets and follow in your footsteps.

In the spirit of giving, I've got a drummer that needs a good home. He's slightly used and drags the beat occasionally, but he's house trained and great with kids.

LOL....my band needs a full time drummer. can i have him?:D

    mchildtree-
i think this whole giving thing is a great idea. i feel so bad because i dont have anything to spare. i just have one strap, one bass, one cable, and one amp. and now i realize that even having this much is something to be thankful for. lets try to make this a TB tradition of some sort. i'm sure a year from now i'll be able to contribute something.

hmm.. I got an old venom 30 watt amp... you can't turn it up to loud or it will begin to distort.. but it works...

  15. Great idea! I think I could probably find a strap or something to donate. Someone should organize this and get the ball rolling. I would but I can't even keep track of my car keys.

At least everyone is honest enough to admit they don't need it here.

Maybe we should get some people together to buy a cheap bass, and give the headphone amp, bass, and strap, and stuff to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital for someone there.

I'd be willing to toss in $20 for a bass. Any takers?

Edit: I mentioned Scottish Rite because mchildree is in GA, and so am I. They are a Children's Hospital with a great reputation. I believe quite a lot of cancer work is done there. Luckily, I haven't had to be too familiar with their services.

  17. I'm in. Let's do it, all us Atlanta-area folks. If 10 or 15 of us donate $20 each, we can get a Squier Bronco bass and some accessories. What do you think, guys and gals?

Good idea, Bassmonkee! Will you or Dave give Scottish Rite a ring and clear things with them? Let me know when and where, and I'll mail the things I have up to you.

I'll call the hospital tomorrow to see what they say about the idea. If we can get another couple of people to chip in, I will be happy to organize it, and drop the stuff off. I have a friend who has a music store, so I'm sure he'd be happy to give us a beginner bass for cost.
