im looking for a pedal for my p-bass but im not quite sure what kind to get? I want distortion and that hardcore "metaly" sound... anyone have any ideas?
I've got a boss distortion pedal.. It gets a nice metallic, grungy kinda sound, but it's actually a regular six-string guitar pedal, so its a bit lacking in the low-end. I've heard good things about Boss Bass Overdrive pedals, though.
do you have 80 us dollars? i can solve your problem! from your profile i read that you like rammstein and smashing pumpkins. this pedal will be you joy, trust me. the electro harmonx big muff pi. a chainsaw. there are 2 versions. one made in russia the other in usa. i had both and suggest you the russian one. less pricey and quite the same results. this is the medal used by billy corgan too on guitar. www.ehx.com
HEY LOOK ANOTHER DISTORTION THREAD!!! hehe anyway i would highly suggest staying away from the Phat Head or Bass Overdrive. They are actually not nearly as good as some people say... too much noise, not enough flexibility... i suggest holding off until you can afford something you will use forever such as the Fulltone Bass Drive, EBS MultiDrive, BuddaPhat Bass, or the GK Diesel Dawg (i actually havent heard much on this yet and havent played it so thats might not be a good example). To all effects newbies: DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. SAVE AND GET SOMETHING YOU WILL LOVE FOREVER AND WILL BE A PART OF YOUR ORIGINAL SOUND FOR YEARS TO COME!
well... i can still my distortion pedal when i play guitar. now that all it's credibility has been wiped out, and such.
I'd go with a Russian Big Muff, personally. Sounds good, looks cool, pretty affordable. For some reason, the American version reminds me of a box of Kellog's Special K....
hee hee...you said Muff... http://www2.marsmusic.com/store/product_new.jhtml?prodid=1100&catid=370&skuid=0&_requestid=41596 ..added sustain.?
EHX stuff is pretty nice. I have a russian bassballs envelope filter. You might want to try an Ibanez Phat Hed maybe? By the way, I've used the Boss Bass OD before and IMO its kinda thin sounding. But maybe it was just poorly set. And I think you can mod it so it works better for bass too.
Oh boy, here we go again, where's the Mod. Anyway In my search I found that the Budda Phat Bass was phenominal. Our band just did a demo with it and you won't belive how much low end (not muddy) and sound of my bass it retained all the while giving me over-top-dist. It's the most expensive pedal i've found, but also the best sounding IMO. I agree with ImNotGettyLee In that buying a low dollar pedal will do you a dis-service. You almost always get what you pay for.
Ive been asking that seem question for a looonngg time but they dont seem to exist. I think im just going to buy one because i will definetly be able to get my money back if i dont like it
