...the Roscoe Beck 5 but to fit a 4 string bass.
I want a pickup that can do the vintage jazz tone good aswell as a fat humbuckersound and a P-bass sound too. Is that to much to ask for???
I´d like brand and model suggestions, please.
I´m working on a project bass but just in my mind so far.

Seymour Duncan makes the JJ/JJ pickups for Fodera, and so does Aero. I believe you can order ones from Seymour Duncan from their custom shop, or similiar ones from Aero from their shop.

Kent Armstrong makes similiar pickups to those, too, but they are harder to find. Supposed to be just killer though.

If you want those pickups, why not just order some "replacements" from Fender? I'm sure they would send some.

Well, it´s for a 4 string bass. But I will check out Duncan, Armstrongs and the Aeros. Thanks.

Rio Grande makes a pickup called the Powerbucker. Looks like two J pickups side by side. I think they're wired for series/parrallel and single coil operation too.

YAY! You are correct sir! :D (with 'fancy' covers, even)

...they LIST for $130USD (neck or bridge) or $250USD (set).
With aforementioned 4-conductor wiring for zany switching options.

Dunno where the heck to get `em tho, outside of orderin' direct
    from Rio Grande --

No, I don't work for `em or own stock :p.

  6. You could have fooled me. :D

    Tee-hee :).

Nahhh, I just dig `em. Sad thing is, I passed right by the Robin shop
in `86 when I got roped into goin' to Houston for a " honeymoon ".

About a block past, it finally dawned on me what that big "Robin"
sign meant (durrl). I coulda' at least window-shopped and drooled
a bit (remember, I'd just got hitched :p ) over a Freedom I or II bass.
But...miniature golf waits for no one. Yippee!
