I'm looking for an East Indian Rosewood 1/4" drop top for my next bass project. Does anyone have a wood supplier in the UK which stocks lutherie woods in these sizes?
My old supplier Craft Supplies / Soundwood in Debyshire doesn't do instrument wood anymore, which is a big dissapointment! It's amazing how companies have come and gone over the last 10 years!

  2. I get my stuff from Exotic Hardwoods in Chapel en le Frith - if you're in Derbyshire then it won't be too far from you

If what you want isn't on his website, give him a call anyway as he can probably help you out.

Edit: Oh I see you're in Swindon! Don't worry, he will do delivery I think his rates are quite reasonable although I live close enough to drop in when I need to.

David Dyke: http://luthierssupplies.co.uk/. They can sometimes take a while to ship but are always top quality timbers and are helpful so don't mind taking pictures, though it's best to ring them rather than email or you'll be waiting a while for a response. They also stock Rosewood tops I believe.

Exotic hardwoods are good too, though I have had problems with their communication. I actually import a fair bit too, even with the import duty and shipping it can sometimes work out cheaper, especially figured Maple. I sometimes feel there isn't enough demand is in this country for the suppliers to actually take it seriously.
