Help! We have a gig coming up in a few weeks and one of the band members has submitted Rhiannon as a potential tune for us. I would really like to drop it but I need another tune for a female vocalist that the entire band can learn quickly, two or three rehearsals to go... Any ideas? Thanks! Mike
Suggestions: No Sleep Tonight by The Faders Ghost by Fefe Dobson Blue Kiss by Jane Wiedlin The Way It Is by Nicole Atkins Nothing In This World by Paris Hilton (Don't laugh, it's easy to learn and catchy) Because The Night by Patti Smith Gonna Be Mine by Karla Bonoff
Not sure they'd qualify as upbeat, but two we've had luck with are Voices Carry (Til Tuesday) and Only the Lonely (The Motels).
"Ballroom Blitz" and "Fire" are always awesome with a female vocalist, especially if she can wail like Tia Carerre in "Wayne's World" "My Generation" would be awesome, as well.
'Hello' by Tristan Prettyman. My band plays that, but in a slightly different version - I find the original doesn't groove as much, but if you know what you're doing, that one is a blast to play.
