looking for nice five string in 1000-1500 range

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by sk8terguy316, Jun 30, 2005.

  1. Well as my title states I'm looking for a nice five string bass in the 100$-1500$ price range. Yet I want several things

    - It's a big plus if it's Neck-through Thats what I want

-I want it to have a flatter neck because I want this to be a good tapping bass

    -Thank you for all suggestions

I'm not sure about the price, but I think you might be able to find a neck-thru Czech Spector for that price range.

    There's a US Spector in the classifieds......it's a b/o, but I owned this bass and it's killer.

If neck through construction is important criteria then it's hard to beat a Peavey Cirrus for the money.

If the 35" scale bugs you then look for a used early Nashville era Tobias basic 5 which is 34".

  16. you might want to check out a DINGWALL Afterburner.
    You buy a 5 string for the B string-right?
Why not get 37" of B string punch, compound radius neck 7-25 w/ a very flat profile. These are killer basses, that play great.

Yup. Mine was a bit more than your range, but I know that the 'solid' finish ones go for your range. I second bass central, but I know that BassNW has great pricing too (but you'll have to special order).

As far as I can figure there aren't many other hand made five strings in that price range that can compete.

+2 for Cirrus. They're hard to beat for being neck-thru, having a flat board (which I appreciate more and more whenever I play another bass), tone and construction.
