Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by rockandroller, Jan 30, 2003.

  1. Anybody out there have a white (or 'yellowed') 4000-series with a BLACK pickguard? I'm curious about what they would look like, but havent been able to find a pic anywhere.

Also, if your looking to score a white Rick 4003, they stopped production in that color, because they are STUPID!!!!!........It was such a great rick color to. Nice basses guys.

Hey Polly, I was almost sure you'd come and drop a line there... ;)

I agree with that point of view. But IMHO, the RIC strategy, these latest years, is not what they did best.
  9. I'm intrigued by the fact that no one OWNS one of these....perhaps they have all been swallowed up by some greedy collector living on the far reaches of the world, in a super-secret industrial compound where he collects rare and supposedly non-existant RICs. Nothing can stop him in his quest!

1987 Mapleglo w/black... it was stolen not long after this picture :(

I'd kill for a Maple/black w/sharkfin inlays again. White/black is my second fav.

Nice score there Henry. Didn't you pay like $375 or something for that? I like the scruffy fridge behind it.

Yeseri Max, Great score!!! with tax the Ric cost 375 and change and it sounds killer with the Alembics, She's a little worn and beat but still a very fine and payable Ric. I used it live Sat night with the Zep band and it was pure fun to play. That fine scruffy fridge in the back was the score of the century, it turned out to be a all original 1970 SVT 810 cab, Straight back and original dolly and all original speakers, Sweet! $175 bucks took it outa the guy's basement where it sat for 20+ years, Now I got to save some cake to find a matching head. I have had a few leads on a couple but way outa my price range for right now.

Seeing your fine Ric gave me gas for one so I found my own.:D
    Thanks Max.

No, I think it was what they called midnight blue.

Sold it to get a brand new turquoiseglo.

Max I love the turquoise better than midnite,
Great color! Great bass! I'm glad I joined the ric fold again. Every bassist should own at least one Ric in there lifetime.;)
  20. Here's an azureglo:

Kinda dark on the finish because I shot flash with poor lighting. Don't think it'd look that good with a black pickguard and headstock cover, though maybe a mirrored guard...

As for the white, I kinda understand why they discontinued the color. It seems like a real pain to maintain. Every used white 4001/3 I've seen on ebay has some degree of yellowing, but that's probably because many of the former owners played in areas with lots of cigarette smoke. It's like cars. White and black ones always seem to show dirt the easiest. White even moreso. But they look sooo beautiful though.

As for unusual colors, I always took a liking to this one: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/mccorp/4003seagreen.html
