I am looking to add an outboard Preamp but I like the tone of my bass just needs a little more juice to get the level up. So I would like something that does not have a sound of it's own. something pretty neutral. DI out is a plus. Don't want or need distortion or any other added stuff. Thanks for your help. Would like to stay under or right around 200.00. Could go a bit more if it is a significant gain.

MXR m81, if you could find a used 3Leaf enabler, it would be completely neutral. One option could also just be an eq pedal and a small di like the orchid.

The Tone Hammer is pretty good at that.

I also use an Enabler. It is the definition of neutral. Whatever you put in is what you'll get out. It also has a headphone out and aux in, and used can be found for just about your budget, maybe a little more. Very good preamp and DI.
