I've got a dead magnet on the neck pickup of my 5 string Bartolini jazz. I've already got a 5 humbucker Bart in the bridge, so going Bartolini might be the more logical thing to do. But if there's one thing about bassists, we aren't all about logic.

I am very interested to hear what you guys think. What should I replace this ish with?

It all depends on the tone you are after.

Many great choices out there: Barts, Q-tuners, Nordstrand, SGD, Villex etc

wow... Dead magnet in a bart - Gotta say, I've never heard of that, but there's something new every day - right?

Were it me, I'd match it with the bridge p'up - get another bart. The next question is which one... Doe they make a single coil p'up?

i've heard good things about nordstrand.

it appears to be a dead magnet in the pickup. The A string mag does nothing. I believe bartolini makes single coils...i am pretty sure that is what i have.
