hi justsaying to all the newbies or anyone really. you all seem to ask if theres anything "good for under $500" or something like that. well it dont matter how much it costs or how good we think it is, if you like it then get it. i have found many a cheap bass to play and sound better than the 3 times more expensive stuff. i have played something and liked it and then bought it when i couldhave saved my money and got a fender and have people go "wow man, a fender bass" and it would sound like crap to me. what ever you think is good, is good. later Lukas
yeah, too many times have I come across 'bassists' who think they are great cos their daddy bought em a P bass and they have great amp combo, they still suck. people don't need to own fenders to get noticed, I played a fretless jazz once in a shop, i prefer my peavey, but maybe that's just my 'fenders' ain't the bee's knee's after all' opinion.
wow, see, i agree with this, but probably from the opposite side of the coin. i get way more notice for my basses than i would with a cheap ole' fender .
That's true, Lukas. And if I think Martians are breeding in our vending machines, that's true too.....for me. Maybe the "crap" you hear is just bias in the same way that more expensive gear that gets reviewed in Bass Player is rated more harshly than less expensive stuff. I don't like paying for "the name" either. But better playability and components are always going to cost you.
Uh oh. Now you've done it. I here the slow rattle of JT's hard drive as he yet again post pics of his family.
well, here's a group shot of all of my basses... it's not the best picture, but you get the idea...here's another... and all of them are custom made conklin basses.
Damnit. I thought I was cool because I could afford new couches for my house....and now my eyes are on fire from the sight of the JT conklin family...coooool. Hey JT, are you on a Conklin multi-purchase deal? Like buy 9, get the 10th free? If so...just one more to go! Still way to cool.
yeah, you'd think. in fact, i've got the final one being made right now, a fretted 8 string to match the fretless 8.... this was from a while ago, while it was being built. it's getting wired now, should be done soon.
JT you must be well and truly loaded!! those are some nice if unusual looking basses, very woody and heavy looking, btw nice haircut
thanks. and bassmonkeee, i can honestly say that i have kicked the conklin habit, after the 8 string. i'll never have to buy another bass again. ... .... (sputters) must...keep....straight....face.....BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! yeah right.
