so last night after a big festival we played.. a little bluegrass/acoustic jam broke out late night around the campfire.

some guy had a little practice amp and was jamming. i jumped in on his bass (carvin electric i think). he had these flatwounds on there that were smooth as freaking butter. sounded awesome.

he said they were coated and were around $250 a set!! and he said they have been on that bass for 4 years....

i can' remember what they were called. any ideas?

and if so....are they that great?

I don't think even the Optima Maxima 24k Gold-coated strings are that much...

$25 sounds more reasonable than $250, or the guy got ripped off...

Maybe the bass was $250 and came free with the strings?

Or the strings were $250 and came free with the bass?

There are Double Bass strings in that price range...but I've not heard of electric or acoustic bass strings at that price level.
