Hi there: I`ve just rewatched Bass Day 98. I just love MM performance and wondered about that loop device he uses when playing "Teen town". I mean, I`ve never used that kind of devices for soloing and wonder: - What was it ? - Are they easy to manage ? - Approx.cost ? I know Steve Lawson uses a lot of loops in his solos (maybe you can guide me too) I just wanna get a little knowledge and know if they`re worthy. Thanks
it looked like 2 lexicon jam-mans to me. I don't think they're being made anymore. The current box of choice to replace the jam-man is the Gibson Digital Echoplex. That one costs about 800 USD + 100 USD for the foot controller.
I did, as Bass of Galt suggested, use two Lexicon JamMans to play "Teen Town" at the Bass Day 98 show. The JamMan had a nice feature that allowed them to be run in sync, giving you more loop options. They were a pretty simple device and relatively easy to use, but unfortunately they are out of production these days. There are a number of cool loopers out there, though. Have a look at www.loopers-delight.com for the complete info.
