I've got a problem with overly "loose" pots on my yamaha BBN4.

Now I know what you're thinking, and it's not that the pots aren't secured properly to the bass (which is what most people mean by loose pots). it's that they seem to turn too easily with very little resistance. It all still works fine, but I'm bringing the bass out of retirement to be my main gigging bass, and the pots turn so easily that I'm concerned that I might end up changing the settings just by moving around during a gig.

It's a relatively old bass that I gigged hard back in the day, so I'm guessing that they've just worn out over time and need to be replaced. Is that the case?

  2. put a round felt washer under the knob and set the knob low to drag on the felt, or, install new pots, which is the proper fix.

I'm liking the washer idea. I'm not too hot with a soldering iron.

    Cheers :bassist:
