  1. Ok, I admit I like a One Direction song. It is like they wrote it about me! It is even fun to play on the bass:) Give it a listen, it's catchy.

When I’m fat and old and my kids think I’m a joke
Cause I move a little slow when I dance
I can count on you after all that we’ve been through
Cause I know that you’ll always understand

I won’t act my age, no I won’t act my age
No, I’ll still feel the same around you
    Hey!

Maybe if they learned some instruments I wouldn't be so hard on them.

  5. Hi,

You know, that's not too bad. I don't really understand why the halftime chorus but the theme of the song is cool and it's a simple little feel-good song. I wonder if the crowds will line dance to it? ;)

Note: My 15 year old daughter absolutely loathes 1D.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    Like these guys?

The OP's song has some catchy bits, not bad. But not great, IMO. To each their own.

Yeah, got that right! lol. Their "career" is fueled by teenage girls, and everything they do in the music industry is all based on sales. IMO it's not really music if you put absolutely no effort into it. If you didn't actually write the song, it probably means nothing to you... Music just has no feeling when it's all based on sales IMO.

    (Current music industry = Sh!t)

(Yes I understand that the Beatles were fantastic musicians and I love them to death, but I don't feel like teenage girls being fans is a good reason to dislike One Direction)

There were plenty of men who love/loved the Beatles, but there aren't many guys who like 1D.

When I do my acoustic shows, i sometimes play "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys. Yeah, the lyrics suck (and I'm a lyrics guy), but it's actually a fun song to play. Few people play it, but everyone knows it.

Haha man, One Direction is no where near The Four Top's level.
And it's not because they don't play instruments, it's because they have no soul when it comes to their music. It's like their just singing because of the money, not because they love it. Also, anything my 14 year old sister listens to just tells me right off the back that it's nothing special! (No offense!)

I agree completely. It's just that sometimes people give reasons for disliking something that are totally bogus to me.

  19. I think I am in some strange alternate universe because I am about to sort of defend 1D (a little). According to my 13 year old daughter who is a 1D fanatic, they actually wrote most of the songs on this newest CD. After listening to the CD that is not really saying much, but there it is. The Beatles and Four Tops references got me thinking. My daughter is doing a Social Studies project about the economics of Boy Bands. Who really gets the money, etc. While they are not hurting, I am sure the "artists" are not getting as much as we think. The Beatles aren't a boy band, but the boy band model was probably based on there success. I may start a new thread to see who people consider to be a boy band or the influence for that model.

    I agree!

Songwriting credits are listed in order, much the same as food Ingredients on a packet.
They list writers in order of amount of work contributed.
Most of these songs that 1D have "written" have about 5 other people listed before any of the band members. That speaks volumes to how much they actually worked on each song.
It might be a few lyrics, it might be a few vocal melodies, it might just be the title. Either way, to say that they wrote "most of the album" is drawing a fairly long bow.
