Just scored this from Gary at GuitarX in Colorado. Very nice guy. I called him about the bass, and he had these gorgeous pics out to me in no time. He also weighed both the DJ's he had for me on the spot. Knew I was in trouble when I saw the pics...

I'm stoked about the passive setup. I have really rekindled my love for passive instruments. They give up a warm, woody response that a preamp just seems to kill.

Anyway, you people (SMASH, Davidm, Jacochops, Bino, Tommixx, KJung) have been tempting me with these for so long...:spit: The mind was willing but the flesh was weak.

    More when she gets here.

Will, you are a weak man....... :D

    What a beautiful bass!

I would love to pick one of those up in a 5er with a rosewood board. I look forward to hearing about this one.

Thanks man! Lets hope Pope doesn't want his money up front! LOL.

P, it definitely looks more pewter than other pictures of white DJ's I've seen...but I think it's just the lighting.

I think it will get a brown tort guard if we get along together.

Man, I will add the Smash switch for sure. Have you ever seen the SNL sketch they made after Superman "died" (not Christopher Reeve, the comic book character)? Chris Farley at Superman's funeral as the Hulk...OMG..."Hulk...hulk not good with words...Hulk just want to smash!"

Are you not digging the rosewood board? edit: Wait, I think that was a "you're not leaving the house dressed like me" comment. ha ha.

Beauty! How could you describe the tone? I am looking for a basic passive 4-string bass to complement with my two hifi-basses. Would you recommend the DJ4?

Btw, what does the switch do?

Wow, a five with a maple board, a lucky find indeed. Those seem to be in short supply. The white is a must with the blocks and binding. I'm diggin it all the way. It's the perfect nemesis for my JO4.

Got it ... Pearl looks great!

So you're fully endorsing the smash-U-switch? I might have to try it. I've always wondered if you could wire in a little resistor on the neck pickup to get that "back off the neck pickup" growl with the series setup ...

that's a very nice DJ ... i dig the maple fret board .

you won't be dissapointed by the passive sound of this bass ,
very punchy , and yet warm , when compared to Fender pickups .

    side note :
Tom , did you sell your black DJ4 ?
