I am currently on the hunt for a very particular Warwick bass.

But I'm wondering where all the used Warwick basses are. I see lots of Chinese RockBasses on Ebay and Reverb.com. Not interested in those. But isn't there a store somewhere in the US that specializes in basses that actually has lots of basses?

I am now willing to travel. GAS is in 5th gear. Next step is planning a vacation to Germany. I don't want to have to do that.

    Any thoughts?

Looking for 1995-2000 W Thumb. 5 string fretless. Ovangkol body/Ebony board. Black Hardware. Don't care if it is BO or NT.

Plenty of Thuumbs on reverb, just not from '95 to '00.
Is there something special about those years, or is it just that you can get a good price for used in that 5-year span?
I guess needing a fretless doesn't help, right?

Pardon my ignorance, did they make ones with ovangkol bodies in that time period? I thought they were all bubinga from that era.

Yes. Some bassists, including myself, prefer ovangkol. I I think it is better looking and maybe slightly less heavy than bubinga. But I really just prefer the look. The thumb i currently have has really outstanding sustain. I have a bubinga Corvette from 98 that sounds amazing but I doesn't have nearly the amount of sustain as the ovangkol thumb. Various versions have either a wenge neck or an ovangkol neck. Both are outstanding

I'm just trying to figure out from all you TB guys if there is some bass Superstore somewhere with lots of used Warwick's in it. I got my bags packed I'm ready to go
  8. The first Thumb bolt on basses had walnut bodies.

I would think the Warwick Store in Nashville, TN would be the place to possibly have what you're looking for.

Wow! I wasn't aware of that.

I had dealt with this guy a few times on suggestions for replacing the noisy MEC pups.

I wonder if he could help you out?

  12. Chicago Music Exchange often has a good selection. I've only been there once, but I peruse their website from time to time.
