I recently bought a Cort 3535 5-string, and it is strung through the body. It has a really REALLY low action (which I am going to raise). But my main problem is how loose the strings are. Is there anything other than using a lighter gauge strings that I can do to get tighter strings?

I'm wondering if raising the action will have a significant effect on this, especially as it is strung over the bridge then through the body?

  2. I think what you need are larger strings. A thicker string will have to be pulled tighter to produce the same note as a thinner one.

    yeah, bigger strings not smaller.

When I think about stiff strings, Dean Markley Sr2000's and Rotosound's always stick out in my mind as the tightest strings I've ever used.
