Low F# on a 6 string

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Kraig99, Mar 5, 2002.

  1. Hey. I just bought a Washburn XB-600 6 string bass and I was wondering if it would be possible to string it with a low F# instead of the high C. Would the neck support the extra tension? Will it fit into the bridge? Thanks in advance for any replies.

stringing a bass with a low f# will actually have less tension than using the high c.

finding strings will be a problem, unless you can deal directly with the factory, or are willing to have custom strings made.

  3. Why will it be a problem? Can't I just order a .145 gauge string from GHS?
