Low tension strings

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by funk_engineer, Jan 13, 2003.

  1. I've been considering some TI rounds on my MIM Jazz, as I've heard they sound good and last a for a while. They also are supposedly much lower in guage and tension. (This may be a good thing as I've incurred a mild injury in my left hand from unrelated activities).

    My questions:
-What are some other brands of roundwounds that have a fairly low tension?

-Will I have to adjust the nut for the TI jazz rounds?

-Do the TI jazz rounds work well for slap at all? I mostly play fingerstyle, but am curious.

-Are other TI strings pretty low in tension? (Namely, the Powercores or whatever they're called. How do these compare in sound?)

  2. Pyramid also offers a .030-.090 string set, which should have a fairly low tension (they offer it as steel or as nickel strings)

I would also like to know if the TI rounds are good for slap (and tapping)

Powerbass strings have normal tension (powerbass strings are a .047-.107 set!)

  3. TI Jazz Rounds are fine for slapping, are low tension, and do not require any mod to your bass.
