Oh it looks great. But I'm severely space limited. Also, I've owned the LB version in the past ati wanted to try something different.

Sold my Little Bastard 30 a few years back and regretted it. Back in the saddle again! I decided to improve the look ( to me at least ) with some chickens feet knobs. To me it looks classier.

I thought the stock knobs where round. This is what it came with.

[msod]. My first was a hughes and kettner 18w guitar Amp that I bought for guitar and quite liked a lot for bass.
I then proceeded to the Reu├čenzehn the bass amp deluxe, 15watts class a. I regretted that quite fast because it only sounded good with my vintage p bass and terrible with my active 5 and 6 string Basses. I flipped it for an ampeg pf 20 which was too weak for the low b with boosted bass, so I sold it an bought the PF 50T which is my main Amp for now.

Funny, I saw this and thought "what's different, that's just how mine looks". Then I looked at mine...and suddenly became jealous :smug: It's like the chicken's were supposed to be there in first place. Great idea and now I have to find some!

I got mine from Amazon, they were like $12 for 12 knobs. Cheap upgrade I think

My favourite recording amp is an old Selmer Treble'n'Bass 50 MkI. Amazing little amp. I've also got an Ashdown LB-30 and I like that one too. The rest of my bass amps are in the 100-200w range.

But I could probably add the Ampeg V4BH to my list of low powered amps too because there's no way that thing really puts out 100w. It feels more like 50w. The most pathetically weak "100 watt" amp I've ever tried.

Oh, and I've got one of those old Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp open back combos (I think it's around 12w) but I've changed the speaker to a Jensen Alnico and only really use it for guitar. Didn't sound half as bad as I expected when recording bass with the stock speaker though. Not great but a kinda interesting lo-fi vintage vibe and perfectly useable if blended with a DI.

If you would like a number, please post a pic of a 50-watt (or less) amp and request a club number.

    Thanks Tubesters. Who's next?

  13. Technically I haven't owned a low wattage tube amp (sub 50W) for quite a while since I sold my little bastard 30 (why oh why). I couldn't stay away and saw a bargain in the shape of a British made Carlsbro Top 50 guitar amp. I'm hoping that its robust enough to use with a bass through my Barefaced two10. Its been sent off to an amp tech but I'm really excited to try her out.

I hadn't noticed the "feedback" knob before...i'd assumed it was the same EQ as the LB30. Anyone know if the EQ is the same as the LB30? Plus, what does the feedback dial do?

The feedback dial doesn't make a ton of sense to me, but near as I can tell it routes some of the preamp output back through the preamp to thicken up the sound.

He describes and demos it a bit here:

I don't know whether the EQ is the same as its predecessors. But I bet Ashdown would answer if you emailed them or bugged them on the book of faces.

The passive EQ is a large part of the fun the CTM30/LB30 brings - Ashdown would be mad if they would let go of that feature :)

I tend to agree, although I found the EQ had a bit of a learning curve (the LB-30 was my first all-tube amp).

I know it's not a bass thing, but in the event anyone is in the market for a cheap low wattage all tube guitar amp, I picked up the Bugera T5 Infinium while it was on sale and it's pretty cool. Great sounding so far and should be great to record with.
