LPB Precisions w/tort... reality, or refins?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by wateroftyne, Aug 8, 2017.

  1. Hey folks

I'm intrigued. I've seen a quite a few LPB P's over the years with tort guards, but they generally seem to be refins.

It got me wondering - was LPB & tort ever a factory option? If so, when..?

I find that metallic finishes were mostly combined with a white pickguard. But you know how it is with Fender: never say never...
  3. Not sure I can recall seeing any "recent" LPB / Tort P basses from Fender, in say, the last 30 years... but I'm not exactly catalogging every bass they make. ;)

Pickguards are pretty common to change, so it never surprises me to see people add a tort guard.

It was a custom color option for most of the '60s....I don't see why there wouldn't be a few that came from the factory like that...
