Because Photobucket has chosen to in effect "take down" everyone's photos (unless you pay them), we have extended post edit time in the Luthier's Corner to UNLIMITED.  If you used photobucket and happen to still have your images of builds, you can go back and fix as many of your posts as far back as you wish.

I have reached a crossroads in my professional life, and I'm wanting to learn something new. I am looking for a challenge, so I have decided to try my hand at guitar building/repair.

I'd like to intern in a shop here in the SF bay area, but I am only aware of a few places (Zon, Modulus, Real Guitars). Can anybody make some suggestions as to where to start, who to talk to, and and what information I need to be armed with for such a quest?

I'd talk to the bass guy at Gelb Music in Redwood City. Probably a good resource.

As is Michael Dolan, an excellent luthier who used to work there (in the seventies I think) and has been building his own customs ever since.
