Yeah, Brendan, that's his new neck. Nice catch. Nice to finally see it on the bass.:)

John, these 7 string threads don't come around too often now that you lurk down in your demesnes most of the time. ;)

I knew that you would be along shortly though. Always jump at a change to post your babies.:D

What's the ETA on the semi hollow? And weren't you getting another 8 stringer?

the 3rd 7 string used to have a fretted, solid purple heart fretboard, but i got bill to make me a new neck for it. i drew it to be sorta like the fretted neck on my doubleneck. it was going to be fretted, but then, when i got the two fretted 7 strings that are on the second row of pics offa ebay, i decided to get it fretless. by then, bill had already cut lines (drat!) so he filled the lines with maple wood - very faint, but they still hose with me a bit.

    don't tell dann :D ;)

i don't really know when the fretted 8 (in the back)...

or the hollowbody are going to show. i need to talk to bill. the 8 string is taking an incredibly long time - i ordered it and paid a downpayment on it in august of '99. there have been just a bunch of delays - took him months just to find the proper piece of walnut for the body, and then the electronics and all that are supposed to be identical to the fretless, which is like the swiss army knife of basses (3-band eq/fully parametric band/piezos/synth pickup) and i think it took duncan a few months to make another music man pickup. for the past few months the bass has been pretty much done except for the electronics.

it's really a bummer, it has never taken bill anywhere near this long before. he's just been swamped, totally backlogged.

i'll probably give him a call or shoot him an email in the next few days, see what's going on.

John...where do you get these beautiful toys? Oh...Conklin, that's right:)

But Seriously, I'd love to get ahold of that 8 fretted. I'd love to try one of those bad boys out...more so now that you mentioned the Swiss Army Knife quiality about the electronics...

Brad...buddy ol' pal... It must play like a dream, but to these humble eyes, that is one fugly bass! No offense, maybe I'm partial to JT's Conklins, but that is not my favorite 7 by far... Though, gotta admit, it's a 7 I don't have, and it's probably pretty darned good to bother owning it, so more power to you!
