Mailed a pedal without a tracking number. What are the odds it gets there?

I needed to return a pedal to an internet retailer and didn't have time to do it myself yesterday so I sent someone else. They chose USPS Ground Service which is supposed to come with a tracking number but they didn't receive one. Long story short, there's a she said/she said thing going on and I'm not going to get a tracking number for it. Considering it's USPS I'm concerned the package won't arrive. Even if it does arrive, since there's no tracking, what's to stop one of the employees from snaking it and claiming it never arrived? I'll be out the cost of the pedal.

Anyone had a situation like this?

I've always gotten a tracking number when dealing with the USPS. Is there any kind of number on the receipt? If so, talk to the local post office and see. If not, cross your fingers.

All parcel services provide tracking numbers. Now if they shipped it first class then they may has well not received one as USPS is notoriously bad about updating their tracking. However, priority mail is pretty decent.

That said, check the receipt. It will most likely contain the number. If they don't have a receipt then I'd be concerned if they even shipped the package.

I've shipped without a tracking number before. Don't waste your own stress on it. It will probably be fine. Just call the company and follow up, for your own piece of mind really. But it's not a busy time for packages, so there's less chance they'll just throw it all over.
