I've only been on talkbass for a couple of months, I know this thread shouldn't be in AMPS, but the people I want to reach are HERE. I left HCBF because of the higher quality discussion here on TB, but I still have to go back over to HC for reviews and I hate that!!

So, Please take some time and at least review your current equipment in "user reviews" (above menu) and your guitars too! Compare and contrast the sound and features with similar equipment. If you get energized review equipment you use to have...

LETS MAKE TALKBASS 'USER REVIEWS' THE BEST EQUIPMENT REVIEW SITE ON THE NET!!!

As on many other review boards this board has the fatel, "I bought it and it's the best" syndrome. Which is usually followed by the highest rateing allowed. A customers satisfaction is a good thing and worth hearing about but is that a review?

Reviews become more credible when a compairson of a simular product is made. Another area often over looked is tonal subjectivity or the "sounds better" pitfall. We can understand somthing sounding different, is that realy better? After seeing Neil Young this weekend I realized that if you look at the gear we all use as paint than I believe that every pre/amp/cabinet/combo is the best at what that paticular piece of equipment does.

On the other hand even the worst review boards provide an outlet for people to describe equipment shortcommings and failures without comparisons which may be of more importance than how great something is.

Writing solid reviews will only help others to do the same. Review on.

We could provide links to BGRA and HC reviews.

Just doing a forum search usually reveals a thread or 2 w/ reviews in it.
