Has anyone here made their own pickguard before? I just made a ****ty replacement for my old PBass out of thin particle board and i was surprised how easy it was so now i'm thinking of making a real guard for my Fender GL Jazz. The only thing i'm wondering is where to get sheet vinyl. The other thing i was thinking of doing was making a clear out of plexiglass. Any ideas or experiences?

I've made several, both as replacements for originals as well as 'customs', (Marylin Monroe stands out... Also, I'm looking for a suitable sized picture of Bettie Page for a P sized pg)...

You can get reasonably priced pickguard material at http://www.stewmac.com

  3. My mate at school wanted to make one out of checker plate sheet metal. Subsequently he is a drugged out hippie but lets not go there....

Did make a clear one out of Acrylic plastic though during a tech class. Looks spiffy.

  4. You can get PG material from Warmoth and Stewart MacDonald.
