How much accuratly would a bass body cost to build?
Do you mean how much to buy the wood (only), assuming you have all of the necessary tools, hardware, electronics, finishing products, etc.?
If this is the question you want answered, you still have to consider the type of wood, whether or not it's an actual body "blank" (wood milled into the appropriate rectangular prism), or if it's a body blank that's already been cut out and somewhat carved/routed, such as these: http://www.warmoth.com/bass/bodies/bodies.cfm (click on a body type).
How about this: what is it that you want to do, specifically?
And please don't say "build a bass."
OK, Build a bass body
no I just want to put one together
Okay, you want to assemble a bass...are you starting from scratch, meaning you have none of the parts?
Well I can buy the pickups and the head from somewhere but you know on the Volume & Tone Control does it have wires beneath it, inside the body?
You may want to do a bit more research on how guitars work before you try building a body.
Send me yours and I'll research on that
Kids these days...
Since I'm a nice guy, I'll try to clear things up.
If you're looking for something like this:
It might cost you about 60$-70$ worth of wood, no work on it done. If you want something like this:
With multiple laminates and stuff, the price can go way up (some tops can go for a few hundred bucks), just for wood.
I'm not talking about tool, electricity and health insurance costs related to the loss of your fingers trough your jointer. Just wood.
