Was just perusing reverb for some nice deals on vintage gear and came across this bizarre number:
Fender Precision Bass 1965-1975 Powder Blue

"Dates between 1965 and 1975... All original hardware except for pick ups."

Besides for the color... what is going on in the waist there?

"sold as-is and are not returnable" makes me mad because the inattentive buyer is now screwed. Am I missing something? Why are there 2 offers?

It does almost look like a Warmoth dinky P body. I'd ask to see the neck joint for any stamps or markings.

And what’s up with that date? 1965-1975?

As long as people are happy to be suckered in by buying any old junk just because it’s old, why would it bother you? Once the holy trinity of Original, Vintage and Rare are trotted out in the description many people seem to enjoy abadoning their senses. Meh, if they believe the jibba jabba enough to find happiness in it, leave them at it.

Body sure isn't a fender unless someone did some custom routing

I dont not see one part on that bass that would be from '65.
    TV logo neck(68+ up)
    68-71 tuners.
    Mid-68+ up bridge
NO FENDER NECK PLATE! So there is no serial.
    69-71 tail logo case.

On Reverb you can submit your best offer on items for sale.
  10. I dont care what year that body is, its been heavily modded contour wise and id throw it in a trash can. Its worth what the neck and case is valued at, substantially less then the $1299.

    It might be horribly over-sanded?

The case is nice, but I'm not so sold on the bass.
