making ubass with standard ukulele?

    i have a normal ukulele but heard of the new kala basses and wanted one but i saw the price tag and my hope inspontaneously died but i was wondering if i restrung my ukulele with kala bass strings would that work?
     
  2. The U-Bass doesn't do any good unless it's plugged in. Apart from fitting the strings (that would involve changing the saddle, nut and tuners), you would have to fit in a pickup to be able to use it.

    New tuners aside, your uke's scale is much smaller than the Kala's, and I even found the larger U-bass scale hard to play accurately and with such floppy strings. I can only imagine how difficult it would be on a little concert uke.
