Making your own rosin

Discussion in 'Bows and Rosin [DB]' started by teenagebass69, Apr 8, 2005.

  1. Hey I was wondering what I do to melt my own rosin. I got my Petz #4, Thomastik #2, and Hidersine #3, but now what? Do i just stick those suckers in the microwave. What kind of container should i use? A step by step would be great because I'm looking forward to this type of rosin...

Apparently thats the most common mix, im pretty sure you can put it in a pot and melt it together and mix it. After its all melted make sure you keep stirring so the top doesnt glaze over and slightly harden. When you're finished, choose a container and pour away and it should harden pretty quickly. Can anybody else verify this? I'm not the rosin making expert hehe.

I've heard of doing this with the little paper cups they give you at Burger King for ketchup.

Personally, rosin is cheap. After a year, I just buy fresh stuff.

  5. Some just microwave the wicked brew, but why not just buy Oak or Pops'? Did you know that Pops was a real bass player from the Houston Symphony and was rumored to bring firearms onstage at rehearsals?
