That looks sweet. I LOVE my 406.

  3. Your bass sounds great, man. Are those EMG pups?

    I've got an SR506, myself.

I've been using it for quite some time and really like the tone.

Good playing. Next time, turn the background music down just little more so your own town will be more clear.:)

that is basically my tone, I steeply cut the original track down -24 db at around 170hz so my bass tone is prominent and not the tracks bass tone.

here is a sample of the backing track as I modified it.

ibanezcollector, do you know any Rush? I really dig this guy's tone, he's using an SR506:

I've been watching the classifieds for a bass like his but your 406 sounds like it can do the job too.

I dont know much rush, love the band but just never got around to the bass lines..

Owning both a SR506 an the SR406 I like the 406 better its not as clickity clacky sounding as the sr506.. But both are excellent basses..

I used to own a SR505 (90's version) and it was sweet. I really had no use for that mid-sweep deal though. Your bass sounds good. I like a little more clarity in my sound though. I leave the bass control flat and boost the treble a bit.

Do you know anything about what he uses for gear other than the bass?

I've been dying to find out, that tone is killer.

I asked him. For the sound you hear on YouTube he just plugs his bass into some $200 digital recorder. He has the info on his bio page.

  19. Extremely nice! An SR-1206 was my main player from 1997-2002 and while I've found my ultimate "sound" in Jazz Basses and J-pickups (they may be less "big" a sound than soapbars but I find the cut they give me in the the mix to suit me better, and found that I didn't use the high-C enough on an everyday basis) I did many a session and live gig with it that worked out wonderfully. It may got on the auction block soon, bu I'll certainly pick up a 6-string at one point for tapping and chordal parts... just a bolt-on model that's closer to my current tone.
