  1. This morning in NYC, an unidentified man committed suicide by jumping off the Empire State Building.

nice......well, he won't do that again.

  3. He could have picked something that would have tramatized fewer people and created less of a potential for injuring others. Assuming this is really suicide we're talking about here, this guy was a jerk!

Man, he didn't even make it all the way down to the street. It's like that Slinky in that Ace Ventura movie. "No! It was soooo clooose! Right there!"

I think people who've reached this point no longer have the capacity to concern themselves with others. Not that he wasn't a great guy at another time, but when you've decided to end it all in a rather public way, traumatizing others just comes with the territory. Sad story though... I can't imagine being at that point. What scares me is that I've read in numerous places and seen with personal experience that ublic suicides can often encourage other people who've been contemplating it to go ahead with their plans... I hope that those who read that article can find the courage to get help.

There would be way too much time too think about what a stupid thing he was doing while he was falling. I feel sorry for his family, this really is a horrible thing. We don't know this persons circumstances so I wouldn't jump to any other conclusions other than he was very troubled.

if anyone got a picture of this guy, not that i wanna see it, but i bet itll be on rotten.com within a week, what a messed up website.
  14. By sick freaks, for sick freaks.

You know there's something wrong w/ you when you're all by yourself on the internet, and instead of looking at your usual (let's say interracial gun porn) you decide to look at pictures of corpses. And yet for some stupid reason, even I have seen this website. Why is this particular form of mental illness (the one that causes people to willingly look at rotten.com and/or similar garbage) so common?

Well, there is that netting at the bottom of the building that is in place to collect such problems...
I guess that if a person wants to do this sort of thing, this is a good obvious place to do it. Almost romantic in a sense, but in reality, NOT!!!
  16. I'd have thought this was regulary, over here, in Groningen, the netherlands, we have a churchtower(martinitoren), about 89 metres I think, someone jumps every 2 or 3 years(at least that's what the stats say) I'd have thought the number would be bigger for the empire state building

anyway, how long did it take him to get down?
  17. It's mainly due to the way the building is shaped. You'd have to get one hell of a horizontal carry on the jump to hit pavement.

    On a lighter note:

"Everyone loves a slinky. It's a toy for a girl or a boy!"

Is the 86th floor the highest point on the building?

    very tragic...............
    that said.................................... :p

a drunk guy is in a bar watching the ten o'clock news with the bartender. a man is on a building threatening to jump. The bartender says to the drunkard, "hey larry, i bet ya five bucks he jumps." The rummy replies "you're on!" and slaps his fin on the table. Not 30 seconds later the man jumps, and the TV camera tracks his fall to the bitter end. Old Larry swears and says to the bartender "you win Jimbo, here's your cash." The barman chuckles and says " I can't take your money Lar, I have to admit, i saw this on the six o'clock news already." "So did I." replies the drunk, "I just didn't think he'd be stupid enough to do it twice!"
