Here are some, along with other mandolins, including a mandocello

    another bass: http://www.moonstoneguitars.com/img/moondolin.jpg

In the early 20th century Mandolin Orchestras were popular. Here's a site for a contemporary one:

There are/were also artists on Windham Hill Records; I saw the group a few years back, but I don't think they had a mandobass, just a mandocello.

While I was aware of the instrument, a search using www.google.com provided the links.

While the other mandolin family instruments have four doubled strings and are tuned in fifths, the mandobass is apparently tuned in fourths, same as double bass and electric basses; at least that's the strings D'Addario sells for it: http://www.daddario.com/STRINGCT/other.htm#anchor68046
  3. thanks!:D
