  1. This is a semi-hollow instrument, with an acoustic chamber under the bridge. The strings pass through the body and then over a saddle with a Piezo element. A magnetic pick-up in the bridge position that adds a mellow tone.
A very simple circuit, volume balance and tone, gives a broad spectrum of sounds, going from a dark, woody double bass sound, to a crisp biting sound. An unusual Bass response with character and originality.

    24 fret positions (lined)
    - 864mm. bass scale (34").
    - 400mm fretboard radius (15,75").
    - Thin “F resin” fretboard to give a precise attack without dead notes.
    - Double way working truss-rod steel bar, allows favorite neck relief adjustment.
    - Hardened multi laminated neck, made up with 0,8mm. thick wood plies. Maple sides
    - Asymmetrical (helicoidal) neck shape for comfortable playing .
    - Satin finish on body
    - Tilted back headstock, one piece with the neck.
    - Natural or see-through color available.
    - MANNE pickups.
    - All wrenches and tools included with instruction notes on basic adjustment.

comes with custom TKL hard case

this bass is like new and never used

There looks to be two holes up top...for two rods? Are there actually two truss rods for this five-string?

These basses really have a great concept, their own neck design, and their own electronics. Gotta like that. I read once where the Manne rep said that what worked for them with the fingerboard was the thin, but super hard resin construction. They tried a whole bunch of approaches and finally got something.

I would love to find more sound clips of these Manne fretless basses!!

Guys, I bought the F-Bass in my sig from John and he was a stand-up guy to work with.

Kudos to you John, you have offered some great basses recently.

I played one of these at Atlanta Bass Gallery and came very close to buying it. If it had been anywhere near the price that this is going for, it would have been mine.

I've been looking for a fretless fiver. How would you describe the sound of this bass?

  12. very warm punchy with the sigle coil, the piezo very fat sounding, will emulate an upright w palm muting very well, blending the both a bit gets a fat growly classic fretless tone, the semi hollow thing really helps with this,

overall , a unique sounding fretless

I can't believe how hard it is to find soundclips of this bass anywhere...the person who buys this needs to put an end to that nonsense :D

I played this one and another one, both Manne, and all I remember is that you could get a very modern fretless sound but you could also nail a very deep and warm thumpy sound - I was having fun trying to cop an upright sound.

I just have no need for a 5 string fretless...well the need is irrelevant, it's the need to money ratio I'm struggling with.

Intriguing post - with which I agree completely :)

Since you've played one, do you think it'll produce tones similar to the bass in the clip I posted, above?

I waffle. I think a fretless might be nice for some jazz stuff, but I seem to get by now without one, and this is a pretty nice bass to experiment with in the current slow time for moving basses.
