What really is the difference besides the color and look of maple and rosewood necks??
I've played both and it seems that maple necks offered more "snap" when I was slapping, but the salesman said that maple is smoother and there really is no tonal differences.

    Any input??

Listen to your ears and not the salesperson...

The salesman is full of it with a sh in front of it. Maple fretboards are brighter. Rosewood fretboards have a darker tone unless there is a urethane finish on the rosewood neck. I like the feel of rosewood boards.
