Maple or rosewood fretboard?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Andy Flees, Oct 10, 2004.

  1. I am currently looking to buy a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass. My only question is, should I get the rosewood or maple fretboard? I like to play slap-style, and I've heard it said that maple provides a "snappier" tone. Please, let me know what you think.

  2. If you grab one in Alder - Get Rosewood.
if its Ash - Get Maple.

    Thats what i would do.

Maple does suit slap style playing. But theres nothing wrong with some nice rosewood. :hyper:

I'm starting to be partial to Maple myself. Love the black blocks on a Maple neck.

if your into slap style..go maple for sure... it will give you the puch and clarity you need... rosewood is nice too but doesnt have the attack that maple does.
