Maple Thunderbird fingerboards??....

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by ZenBass, Dec 29, 2003.

  1. craZzy Question....

did Gibson ever produce a Thunderbird with a maple fingerboard?

I seeem to remember seeing a Black Thunderbird with a bounded Mapel neck with Black Block inlays...

but i was told at a shop that they didnt and u cant get one from the Custom shop...??

    is this true....

    cause

Twiggy Ramirez has a White Thunderbird with Mapel neck..?...

  2. the Gibson custom shop built weird matching Firebird/Jazz hollowbody Thunderbird/Jazz hollowbody models for ZZTop, which were all-white, including the fingerboard- I assume the T-bird neck was all-maple?

FWIW they offered a maple fingerboard on the RD Artist bass.

As well as the Grabber, G3 and the Ripper. But AFAIK, there was never a stock maple board TBird.
