    Hey All,

I've got an Ashdown ABM500 head. It's got separate passive and active inputs. It's a no brainer to where to plug a passive or active instrument, but I just recently bought a Marcus Fender Jazz with an Active/Passive switch, and like the effect of switching for tonal differences during play. The big question is, which input on the head can I safely plug into without blowing up anything?

I was wondering about this and need some experienced "input".

I left the same message in the Amp section...

    Thanks dudes!

Here is what I think and do. One, the ouput out of your bass, active or passive, is not high enough to blow anything up. At worst, you may get some distortion which you can control on the bass by dropping the volume a bit.

I use a simple rule - if I am going to be using the bass in active mode, even just for one song, I plug it into the active input.
